The federal government announces a “game-changer” project to revolutionize Karachi’s coastline and convert it into the world’s one of top port cities. The project would be under CPEC’s with almost 3.5$ billion of direct investment from China.
Main structures that would be constructed under this project:
- Many new berths for port
- A new fishery port
- A great bridge connecting Manora Islands with Sandspit beach.
- The announcement was made by a top member of the federal cabinet Ali Zaidi.
“The best part of this project is that it is based on investment, not on any load. It will be completed in five to six years. We will relocate 20 to 25 thousand families from the Machar colony to the new houses of this project. It’s something massive and it will give a huge advantage to Pakistan’s economy”, the minister said.
“It will also improve the overall ecosystem of maritime and will reduce pollution in Lyari river”, he further added.
