In a bid to increase revenue and promote filing tax, FBR decided to slap an additional 17 percent tax for non-taxpaying Pakistanis. The non-filers will pay this tax in their gas and power bills, Aik Pakistani reported.
The information was provided by a notification from FBR on Saturday.

Five percent additional tax will be charged on consumers with bills up to ten thousand rupees while consumers with bills of 10,000 to 20,000 PKR will have an additional tax of seven percent in their bills.
While 12, 15, and 17 percent additional tax will be levied on gas and power units on the bills between 30k to 40k, 40k to 50k, and 50+ bills respectively.
FBR performance in current fiscal year
On Wednesday, prime minister Imran khan showed full confidence in the performance of the revenue collection department and said that FBR will easily achieve its target of 5,829 Billion rupees.
It should be kept in mind that FBR has already gathered more than 849 Billion rupees in the first two months of this fiscal year and has exceeded its target by 23pc
