In Pakistan, most people feel that making and renewing of driving license is a tedious process. However, after launching an online system for driving licenses, it is no longer a big issue. According to reports, Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB) has introduced the driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS). So that Pakistani citizens can easily apply online for issuance and upgrading of their driving licenses.
What is the Driving License Issuance Management System?
This process automates the formation, renewal, and upgrades of driving licenses in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Besides, with the latest technologies and equipment, DLIMS can provide fast and better services to the public and contemporary statistics to the authorities.
Moreover, this system of PTIB also regulates various processes like Centralized Issuance and Management of Challan Ticketing System, Help reduce vehicle-related crimes, Centralized Driving License Printing Facility, etc. Meanwhile, with the help of DLIMS, the process of online renewal and issuance of driving licenses has been extended among 36 districts of Punjab.

How to apply for driving licence online
To apply for a new driving license, you must follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Open or login to the DLIMS website
- By clicking on the “downloads” section, download the required form
- Attach the fee ticket
- Fill the form and, along with requisite documents, submit to the nearest licensing centre.
- Following the 42 days of the licensing period, pass the initial theoretical test.
- Finally, after the car driving test, you can get your license.
Furthermore, you have to download the “Driving license renewal form” from the downloads section of DLIMS and the required documents submitted to the licensing centre for the renewal of a driving license. The point to be noted is that there is no need for driving and theoretical test for renewal of the license.
Required Documents for driving license!
The requisite documents’ details are mentioned in the “License info” section of the DLIMS website. Besides, license delivery can also be tracked from the same section. Following is the list of required documents:
- The downloaded application form
- Two passport-sized photos
- Two photocopies of the original CNIC
- Original driving license of the applicant
- Fee ticket which is indicated in the license Document
- Medical reports
- Ticket of the relevant license
Meanwhile, a license is renewed only for five years. According to the rules, if the license renewal takes place within one month, it is free of cost. Moreover, an applicant must pay 50% of the charges if the renewal takes place in 1 to 3 months.
While if a license is renewed within three months to 1 year, the applicant has to pay 100% of the fine. However, for different vehicles, the issuance fees are different, which are mentioned below
