Pakistan electronic media regulating authority (Pemra) suspended the license of 24 News HD over airing hate inciting hate spreading transmission during the days of Muharram.
According had issued a special advisory on 20th AUG in which channels were directed not to air anything that can cause harm to inter-faith harmony or which can incite hate.
Pemra said that during Muharram 24, news HD transmission was aired without any editor control. Therefore they violated the advisory issued by Pemra.
Officials added that Pemra received many complaints regarding transmission. Thus it took action and suspended the license of 24 News HD under section 30(3) of the Pemra Ordinance, but the channel will remain suspended till the end of the inquiry.

Previously, this year 24 news’s license was suspended in May for “illegal transmission of news and current affairs content.”
