Where the man’s modesty was kept in sights, the same woman’s modesty was associated with her dress.
The Muslim veil, hijab and jilbab are all among the weapons and protection of women. Veil includes the eyes of a man and the clothes of a woman too.
According to Allama Iqbal:
Although I know quite that it is poison, it is sugar.
I can’t verdict anything about this debate
Sons of civilization are already full of ire and rage
like to make no more remark and earn the wrath of the present age.
They are strong, they are disabled, they are wise men
Only a woman’s insight can reveal this secret.
Emancipation of fair aught or emerald wrought necklace!
What is more precious and in decoration.

مرد اور عورت
جہاں مرد کی حیاء کو نگاہ میں رکھا گیا تو وہی عورت کا لباس سے حیاء کا تعلق جوڈا گیا۔
مسلم پردہ، حجاب اور جلباب یہ سب عورت کے بتھیار اور تحفظ کے سامان میں میں سے ہے۔
پردہ مرد کی نگاہ اور عورت کے لباس پر مشتمل ہے
بقول علامہ اقبال
اس بحث کا کچھ فیصلہ مَیں کر نہیں سکتا
گو خوب سمجھتا ہوں کہ یہ زہر ہے، وہ قند
کیا فائدہ، کچھ کہہ کے بنوں اَور بھی معتوب
پہلے ہی خفا مجھ سے ہیں تہذیب کے فرزند
اس راز کو عورت کی بصیرت ہی کرے فاش
مجبور ہیں، معذور ہیں، مردانِ خِرد مند
کیا چیز ہے آرائش و قیمت میں زیادہ
آزادیِ نِسواں کہ زمرّد کا گُلوبند
